The Wednesday game is new. The NFL had never played on Thanksgiving Eve until this season, and it sits on Netflix as part of the streamer’s 2026 package. That combination, a novel date and a platform some players do not have, is why the deadline catches people out. Send the sheets round at the start of the week rather than the middle.
It also changes what a late entry costs. In a normal week a player who misses Thursday night has given up one game. Here, missing Wednesday means the first pick is gone before most people have even printed the sheet, and Thanksgiving morning is too late to fix it.
How to Run a Week 12 Pick’em Pool
Most pools take five minutes to set up. Agree on the format first, then the deadline, then the tiebreaker. Write all three at the top of the master copy so there is no argument on Monday night.

Confidence pools need the biggest reset of the season. Last week was 13 games, this week is 16, so the range jumps from 13 down to 1 up to 16 down to 1. That is a three point swing at the top of every player’s card, and it is the most likely scoring dispute of the year if half the group carries over last week’s range. For the tiebreaker, ask every player to write the total combined points in Panthers at Buccaneers on Monday night. Closest number wins. What Is Free and What Needs a Subscription
All three Thanksgiving games are on free over the air television, which is the way it has always been. The two new dates are not.

Thirteen of the 16 are free. If your group watches together, the two to plan for are Wednesday on Netflix and Black Friday on Prime Video, and somebody needs to have both before the week starts. Monday night on ESPN has no ABC simulcast this week, which is the sixth time that has happened this season.
Week 12 Games That Decide Most Pools
Three national games on Thanksgiving and a Wednesday opener nobody has a read on. These four are where the week is usually won or lost.
- Chiefs at Bills, Thursday 8:20 p.m. The Thanksgiving night game, two AFC contenders in Buffalo in late November, both on short rest. The most watched slot of the week draws the heaviest pick agreement, which is exactly what makes it expensive.
- Eagles at Cowboys, Thursday 4:30 p.m. The NFC East rivalry in the traditional Dallas slot. Division games rarely follow the standings and this one almost never does, whatever the records say in November.
- Packers at Rams, Wednesday 8:00 p.m. The first Thanksgiving Eve game the league has played, so there is no precedent for how either side handles the date. Green Bay travels west for a 5:00 p.m. local kickoff on a Wednesday, which is unlike anything else on the calendar.
- Panthers at Buccaneers, Monday 8:15 p.m. The last game of the week, so it is the tiebreaker in most pools and carries double weight. An NFC South meeting six days after the week began.
One practical tip. Five of the 16 games are settled before Sunday morning, which is a third of the sheet gone by the time a normal week has started. Pools that update a running scoreboard should post it on Friday evening rather than waiting for Sunday, or players spend the whole holiday weekend guessing where they stand.
