What changed between the schedule release and kickoff:
- Quarterback settled. Geno Smith starts. Rookie Cade Klubnik, taken in the fourth round at No. 110 overall, was named the primary backup after Bailey Zappe was released and then re signed to the practice squad.
- Roster trimmed. The Jets moved 38 players at the August 30 deadline and kept five running backs.
- Breece Hall on track. Hall missed the back half of preseason with a groin injury and is expected to play in the opener.
- Staff in place. Aaron Glenn is in year two, Darren Mougey is the general manager, Frank Reich runs the offense and Brian Duker runs the defense.

Key Matchups to Circle
Week 1 at Tennessee (Sep 13). Robert Saleh coached the Jets from 2021 until his firing in October 2024, and Tennessee hired him on January 22, 2026. Both clubs finished 3-14 last season.
