The 2026 San Francisco 49ers Schedule is the most travelled slate in the NFL, and it opens on the other side of the world. San Francisco meets the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday, September 10 at 8:35 PM ET, the first NFL regular season game ever played in Australia.
Preseason is over. The Niners went 2 and 1 in August, Kyle Shanahan has been back on the sideline running normal duties since the preseason opener, and the 53 man roster is set. Nine home games are listed, but only eight fall at Levi’s Stadium, because the Week 11 meeting with Minnesota is a 49ers home game staged in Mexico City.

Nothing has moved since the May schedule release. The network split is FOX 8, CBS 3, NBC 2, ESPN and ABC 1, Prime Video 1 and Netflix 1, with Week 18 still to be set. Times are Eastern. Subtract three hours for Pacific, so a 4:25 PM ET kickoff starts at 1:25 PM in Santa Clara.
Six of the 17 games are NFC West meetings, four of them on FOX. CBS Sports ranked the slate 18th toughest in the league when the schedule dropped, with 49ers opponents at a combined .497 win rate in 2025.
Key Matchups, Bye Week and Primetime Games
Week 1 in Melbourne, an NFL first
San Francisco and the Los Angeles Rams kick off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday, September 10 at 8:35 PM ET, which is 10:35 AM on Friday, September 11 in Melbourne. Netflix has it nationally with Noah Eagle on play by play and Luke Kuechly on analysis.
Bay Area fans do not need Netflix. NBC Bay Area, channel 11 over the air, carries the same feed free from 5:30 PM PT. NBC Sports Bay Area, the cable channel, runs 49ers Pregame Live from 4:30 PM PT before that.
The Rams are the designated home team, so the game counts as a 49ers road trip and no 49ers home date is lost. It is not the league opener either. The 2026 season starts the night before, on Wednesday, September 9 in Seattle.
Week 11 in Mexico City is a 49ers home game
The 49ers host the Minnesota Vikings at Estadio Banorte on Sunday, November 22 at 8:20 PM ET on NBC. San Francisco is the designated home team, which is why Levi’s Stadium gets eight regular season dates rather than nine. Listings that show it as a Vikings home game are wrong. It doubles as a reunion, since receiver Jauan Jennings signed with Minnesota in free agency after six seasons in the Bay.
Five primetime games
Two Thursday nights, two Sunday nights and one Monday night. The Washington Commanders visit on Monday, October 19 in the only ESPN and ABC simulcast. Mexico City is Sunday Night Football, the trip to the Chargers on Thursday, December 17 is on Prime Video, and the Philadelphia Eagles close the Levi’s Stadium season on Sunday night, January 3. Week 18 could add a sixth.
Week 8 bye, then ten straight game weeks
The bye falls on the weekend of November 1, right after the trip to Atlanta. Useful timing after the Australia flight, but it leaves seven games to open and then ten in a row from Week 9 to Week 18 with no break, including the trip to Mexico City.
The NFC West race and the toughest stretch
The Seattle Seahawks arrive as reigning Super Bowl champions and as the team that ended the 49ers season 41 to 6. San Francisco visits Seattle in Week 5 and hosts the rematch in Week 12, then closes in the desert against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 18, the classic slot for a game that decides a playoff seed.
Outside the division, Weeks 10 and 11 pair a trip to the Dallas Cowboys with the flight to Mexico City. A four day turnaround follows into Thursday night at the Chargers, then ten days off before the December 27 visit to the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia in Week 17 is a rematch of the wild card game the 49ers won 23 to 19.
Preseason Results, Roster News and Injuries
San Francisco finished the preseason 2 and 1. Rookie receiver De’Zhaun Stribling, the No. 33 pick, was the standout of the opener, and kicker Eddy Piñeiro went 6 for 6 on field goals in the finale, scoring all 18 points in Las Vegas.

Kyle Shanahan is in his tenth season. He broke three ribs, his nose and his left hand and took a concussion in a July 14 car accident, then returned to the sideline for the August 13 preseason opener with no reported limitations since. He is expected to call the offensive plays in Week 1, as always. Raheem Morris is the new defensive coordinator following Robert Saleh’s move to the Tennessee head coaching job, and Klay Kubiak stays at offensive coordinator in his second season.
Brock Purdy is the starting quarterback, signed through 2030, with Mac Jones behind him. Mike Evans arrived from Tampa Bay on a three year deal, Dre Greenlaw returned from Denver, Christian Kirk came in from Houston, Nate Hobbs signed from Green Bay and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa was acquired by trade from Dallas. Christian McCaffrey is the reigning AP Comeback Player of the Year. The 49ers named eight captains on September 6, the same group as last season.
Cutdown day thinned the depth chart. Ricky Pearsall and Mikail Kamara went to season ending injured reserve, Mykel Williams and Isaac Guerendo opened on reserve PUP, and Christian Kirk landed on injured reserve with a designation to return. Brandon Aiyuk is off the 53 man roster on the reserve list for players who left the squad, though he remains under contract.
Heading into Melbourne, the only player formally ruled out is defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu, who broke a foot and went to injured reserve on September 4. Nick Bosa returned to practice on September 3 after soreness in the knee he had repaired last season, and both he and George Kittle travelled with the team. Christian McCaffrey sat out the open portion of practice in Australia, which the team describes as a planned workload plan rather than an injury. Fourteen of the 17 games are on free broadcast television nationally, and Bay Area viewers can reach 16 of 17 with an antenna. Here is what each option gives a 49ers fan.

An antenna is still the cheapest route. Monday and Thursday night games must be carried on free over the air stations in both teams’ home markets under the league’s media contracts, and the Melbourne opener reaches Bay Area antennas through NBC Bay Area. That makes 16 of 17 free locally, with only Week 18 unassigned.
On radio, KNBR 680 and KSAN 107.7 The Bone anchor the 49ers Radio Network, with Greg Papa on play by play and Tim Ryan on analysis. Spanish language coverage runs through Jesus Zarate on radio and Telemundo 48 on television.
Flexible scheduling can still move games. Sunday afternoon kickoffs can be flexed into Sunday night up to twice in Weeks 5 to 10 and in any week from Week 11 to Week 17, with 12 days notice through Week 13 and six days after that. Monday night flex applies in Weeks 12 to 17 with 12 days notice, and Thursday night games can be flexed twice between Weeks 13 and 17 with 21 days notice. For the 49ers that puts the Week 12 Seattle game, the Week 14 Rams game and the Week 15 trip to the Chargers most at risk of moving. Week 18 is set only after Week 17 finishes.
Tickets and Levi’s Stadium
Single game tickets for the eight Levi’s Stadium dates are sold through 49ers.com and the 49ers app, with Ticketmaster as the official ticketing partner and NFL Ticket Exchange as the league approved resale marketplace. Vivid Seats is the club’s official provider of gameday fan experience packages. StubHub and SeatGeek are third party markets with no club affiliation, which matters if a listing goes wrong.
The two international games work differently. Melbourne is a Rams home game, so it never entered 49ers inventory, and Ticketmaster Australia is the official ticketing platform. Mexico City tickets are sold through On Location rather than the standard single game listing.
Levi’s Stadium has had a busy year. It hosted Super Bowl LX on February 8, won 29 to 13 by Seattle over New England, then staged six FIFA World Cup matches between June 13 and July 1. Roughly $200 million of upgrades landed in time for both, including the largest 4K display in the league and a new LED field lighting system.
Two ceremonies are on the calendar. Roger Craig, enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8, gets his Ring of Excellence ceremony at halftime of the Denver Broncos game on October 4. Keena Turner becomes the 34th inductee into the 49ers Hall of Fame at halftime of the Washington game on October 19.
