How the Giants Finished Preseason
Harbaugh closed his first August in charge at 2 and 1. Minnesota edged the Giants 13-10 in the opener at MetLife Stadium, then New York shut down Miami 26-3 on the road and beat the Jets 23-6 in the crosstown finale. Undrafted rookie Dominic Zvada made all three field goal attempts in that last game, including a 53 yarder, and won the kicking job over Ben Sauls.

Two of the four national windows arrive right away. Harbaugh debuts on Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys on September 13, then the Giants fly west for Monday Night Football at the Rams. The bye falls in Week 8 on November 1, straight after the road trip to Houston and one week before the visit to Philadelphia. That timing matters: Harbaugh is 15-3 in games coming out of a bye. New York then gets a second breather, ten days between the Thursday night game on November 12 and the Jacksonville visit on November 22.
